Charlotte-Aimee is a New Zealand–based contemporary artist working primarily in oil on canvas. Her practice is shaped by travel, observation, and an ongoing interest in how place is experienced, remembered, and re-imagined.

Raised in Aotearoa, Charlotte developed an early connection to landscape and light — elements that continue to underpin her work today. She completed a Bachelor of Fine Arts (Painting) alongside a Bachelor of Science (Psychology) at the University of Canterbury in 2017, a dual foundation that informs both the emotional and technical aspects of her practice.

Travel plays a central role in Charlotte’s work. Time spent abroad has had a lasting influence on her palette and approach to subject matter. From vibrant cities to quieter moments away from home, she gathers visual impressions that later resurface in the studio.

After several years living and exhibiting internationally, Charlotte has returned to New Zealand, where she continues to develop her studio practice. Her work has been shown in solo and group exhibitions across Australia and New Zealand, and is held in private collections worldwide.

Working in oil, Charlotte is drawn to the medium’s capacity for depth, texture, and subtle nuance. Her paintings often sit between abstraction and representation, offering viewers space to pause, reflect, and form their own connection to the work. Through her practice, Charlotte-Aimee explores how travel doesn’t just change where we go — it changes how we see, long after we return.
